DATA & PROVENANCE

A source behind every facility.

FAA NASR is the primary inventory. Supplemental government publications supply radar positions and facility addresses. FAA-sponsored MIT Lincoln Laboratory reports document equipment models; they do not certify present equipment or operational status.

NASA/JPL's radar inventory is undated. Its site-description coordinates are used, never the decorative exclusion polygons. Markers without verified equipment coordinates use labeled FAA airport reference points only where an airport association is documented. TRACON buildings with an FAA-published address are shown at a labeled address estimate; other address geocodes are not rendered. Radomes.org supplies clearly labeled historical corroboration for Mt. Tam.

Every facility separates location evidence, model evidence, dates and source publisher. Unknown equipment positions remain labeled; documented airport facilities may use an explicitly marked FAA airport reference point. Center and FIR/CTA boundaries use FAA chart-published polygons, effective per the boundary source manifest. High and low altitude variants are selectable, and oceanic FIR and CTA boundaries remain distinct. These are center/region outlines, not internal controller sectors; FAA does not publish radar coverage. The optional modeled coverage layer is terrain line-of-sight computed with the method of the FAA-sponsored ATC-425 report, for radars with published site coordinates and a documented radar family; it assumes antenna heights and ignores beam patterns, clutter and status, so it is not FAA coverage.
