AtlasProjects

Interactive maps of abandoned airfields, aviation crashes, and US aviation infrastructure, with search, filters, and source references.

Satellite view of the continental United States.

AtlasProjects brings together three interactive maps for exploring aviation history and infrastructure. Each map includes search, filters, and links to its sources.

Abandoned Airfield Atlas

Abandoned Airfield Atlas with its searchable airfield catalog and clustered locations across the United States.

Explore abandoned and little-known airfields from Paul Freeman’s catalog. Search locations, filter the catalog, and switch between street and satellite maps. Entries link to the original descriptions and distinguish approximate or missing coordinates.

Airways Atlas: Aviation Infrastructure

Airways Atlas on satellite imagery, showing US radar, tower and approach facilities with modeled radar coverage at 2,500 feet above ground.

Explore the US ground network behind air traffic control: radars, towers, approach facilities, centers, navigation aids, and landing systems, built from FAA data that is updated every 28 days. Every facility links to its sources and states how precisely its location is known. An optional layer models radar line-of-sight over terrain at several altitudes; it is labeled as a model, not FAA-published coverage.
